What is Filmaster? 
Filmaster (now in public beta mode and available under filmaster.com) is a new social network for movie fans, with personalized content and recomendations. And all that free as in beer and as in speech. Filmaster allows you to run your own film blog in a great domain like you.filmaster.com, rate movies and talk about movies with people whose opinions you care about. Personalized recommendations are a bonus.
Filmaster is being developed as an open source project (using django framework) and is free software licenced under AGPLv3. Everyone is welcome to participate! Read more about the license of Filmaster code here.
Getting started
If you are new here, please:
- Create an account (using jira, as the user base is integrated!)
- Tell us about yourself so that we know who you are.
- Download source code from Bitbucket (Mercurial)
- Set up local dev environment to be able to start working on Filmaster just now!
- Finally, read the documentation online - this also includes proposed new features (like plugins and widgets)
- File a bug or a feature request : bugtracker (jira)http://jira.filmaster.org/secure/CreateIssue!default.jspa
How can I help?
When you're done setting up, you may want to take a look at the Roadmap (yes, we do have one) to see what to expect from the next releases of Filmaster and where we need most help!
If you can code Python, you can help by developing the new features/fixing existing bugs.
If you are a movie fan, you can help by rating a lot of movies, writing short reviews and sharing your opinions about Filmaster with the developers here!
